NDIS funding-management guide
NDIS Cleaning: Plan Managed vs Self Managed
The way NDIS funding is managed affects who pays a provider and whether an unregistered provider can be used. Maid Together is not an NDIS-registered provider and supports eligible plan-managed and self-managed domestic-cleaning arrangements.
The three management types
The NDIS describes self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed funding. A participant may also have a combination across different parts of a plan. Confirm the management type and relevant budget before arranging a service.
Self-managed funding
With self-managed funding, the participant, nominee or child representative manages the funding and pays providers. Official NDIS guidance says self-management generally offers flexibility to use registered or unregistered providers, subject to the plan and any support-specific requirements.
Maid Together can send the completed-service invoice to the nominated participant or authorised recipient. The participant remains responsible for deciding whether the service aligns with the plan and for keeping required records.
Plan-managed funding
With plan-managed funding, a registered plan manager pays providers on the participant’s behalf. Official guidance allows plan-managed customers to use registered or unregistered providers in the relevant circumstances.
Maid Together records the plan manager name and invoice email and sends an invoice after delivered worker-hours are confirmed. The participant or authorised organiser must confirm that domestic cleaning is included and funded.
NDIA-managed or agency-managed funding
When the NDIA manages the relevant funding, official guidance requires registered NDIS providers. Maid Together is not registered, so agency-managed customers who require a registered provider are not supported.
A participant can have mixed management types. The relevant support budget—not a general label on the whole plan—must be checked by the participant, nominee, plan manager or support coordinator.
What Maid Together can provide
The service covers ordinary domestic cleaning tasks included in Maid Together’s NDIS Cleaning service. Customers select one or two cleaners, booked hours, priorities and who supplies products and equipment. Recurring arrangements are available subject to approval and scheduling.
- Plan-managed and self-managed requests.
- Participant, organiser and invoice-recipient details.
- Service agreement and privacy notice.
- Invoice after a completed service using recorded worker-hours.
- No card required with the NDIS request.
What Maid Together cannot decide
Maid Together does not decide whether every cleaning service is claimable, provide plan or funding advice, approve budgets or represent itself as NDIS endorsed. The participant and authorised support network must confirm eligibility and available funding.
How the invoice works
The rates are $45 per cleaner, per delivered hour when the customer supplies suitable products and equipment, or $50 when Maid Together supplies them. Two cleaners for two elapsed hours create four worker-hours.
After each completed clean, the delivered worker-hours are recorded and an invoice is sent to the nominated participant or plan manager. Future or uncompleted cleans are not invoiced.
Before requesting service
Confirm the relevant management type, domestic-cleaning support and funding. Prepare participant and organiser details, the correct invoice recipient, service priorities, access needs, sensitivities and preferred schedule. Read the service agreement and privacy notice before submission.
Official sources
Legal, rental and NDIS statements should be checked against the current official guidance. Maid Together does not replace legal, plan or funding advice.
